TAKE A LOOK AT SOME OF MY PAST WORK

See what I've done!

Down the page here, you'll be able to look over a small selection of the projects I've worked on for my clients. I've worked on a wide and varied range of project types, from small logo tweaks or image edits, all the way up to a complete brand build for a startup business. So do reach out to me if you think I may be able to assist you with your own project!

Candy Rock Records Logo Re-draw

Rachel had an old low resolution of their logo, that had been on their social media for some years. She was looking to tweak the design a little and obtain some nice high-resolution versions. The project involved re-interpreting and re-drawing their original logo, and providing some nice clean output files for Rachel’s use.

Rachel wanted some of the details on the original logo to be removed, and the text to be updated as well.

Martin Tyler Driver Training Logo and Brand Generation

It’s been great spotting Martin out and about locally since completing all of his logo, merchandising and car wraps. Martin approached me to design his logo. We also went on to develop some ideas for his merchandise, and design a vinyl wrap for his learner car and top-box.

Martin was great to work with, and it has been wonderful to see all of his success!

“I am absolutely delighted with the logo Ollie has created for my business. I would highly recommend Design by Ollie. Professional, prompt, perfect.”

Sales Psyche Logo and Brand Generation

Chris had setup his sales coaching podcast about a year prior to returning to me for help creating his next venture “Sales Psyche”. After the success of his podcast “Not Another Sales Guy”, he was ready to take the next step and start his own business looking at building both individual’s and organization’s success stories in sales and specifically mental health as it affects sales mindsets.

The scope for this one was fairly open, but Chris had mentioned brain iconography. After some initial designs, we settled on some designs featuring the brain hemispheres integrated as lightbulb filaments. Colours and fonts were chosen and the logo came together with a couple of alternate layouts for Chris’ use.

“Great working with Ollie again on a project for my company logo. He was very responsive throughout the process and created a really unique logo with personality. Thanks Ollie!”

— Chris Hatfield

Union Shack Crafts Logo Design

Working with Taz from Clever Dilemma again was great! She contacted me to design a logo for her new sideline doing laser etching. Taz came to me with a pretty clear idea in her mind of what she wanted for her logo, so we managed to complete a finished logo quite quickly for her.

I’m really eager to see some of her work once she has the project up and running!

Craft & Co Logo Design

Setting up a new pitch in a Kent indoor market, my client was very excited to bring their love of craft ale, craft beer and - most importantly - craft gins to the public. The vibe was really trendy, with lots of interesting craft products lined-up to be available to complement the gin and beers. The initial scope discussions included referencing a cave, as the feel of their market pitch was a bit like an Aladdin’s cave of craft goodies.

The logo was one of my favorites to design. A simple custom-drawn path creating the letter shapes, With the ‘A’ forming the look of a mountain cave. The cave within the A is actually formed from the silhouetted shape of a well know gin bottle.

Belles & Bows Logo Design

A local boutique hair bow supplier, Belles & Bows were looking to update their homemade logo with something a little more robust. It was great fun to build the logo out using the rose and bow motifs. Knowing the business owner, I was also able to include a nod to one of their favorite Disney movies, Beauty & the Beast.

Can’t wait to check back in with Belles & Bows as they grow, and assist with more of their future design projects!

Breaking Down Barriers to Age-Friendly and Inclusive Volunteering

Kent Coast Volunteering
Document Production & Supporting Media

KCV are a great organisation in Kent, putting charities with volunteer needs, in-touch with skilled and non-skilled individuals who can meet those needs. They also work very closely with age-friendly causes, the area in which this project was focused.

I was asked by KCVs development coordinator and event coordinator, to produce a highly produced document, that KCV would be able to distribute as a resource to organisations it works with. In addition to this main toolkit document, there would be a large set of accompanying downloadable resources, designed in the same style and format as the master document. These included activity sheets, invitation templates, registration sheets, event guides and a large selection of usable assets.

I began the project by assessing KCV’s existing brand inventory, including style sheets they had, logos & colour schemes. This was to ensure that the produced output was aligned with their existing brand guidelines. With this established, I worked to produce some initial ideas of styling for the master document, introducing some headings, body text, and supporting graphical elements like the quotation marks, and imagery accents. Icons have also been used quite heavily throughout all of the different elements. Having agreed some tweaks, it was possible to establish a style set, and begin production of the 24-page document in Adobe InDesign, using content supplied by KCV. In parallel the various supporting documents were created in MS Word and PowerPoint, as these are the programs available to KCV’s partners.

“Working with Ollie is a pleasure. He did a great job on a complicated project involving a lot of design and many documents. He was so quick to get back to us, very patient with our requests and offered solutions we hadn’t thought of. We are thrilled with the final products.”

— Georgie MacFarlan

CJC Plastering Logo Design

A great opportunity to be creative with a fresh logo design for a new plastering company in the Sittingbourne area. Chris found me after a recommendation from another of my clients, and came to me with a request for a new design he could use for his plastering business.

Starting with a few guidelines from Chris, including some colour preferences, and a request for a ‘plaster swoop’ to be included somewhere, I went to work producing around 10 different logo ideas for him to review. After looking over the proposal document, and choosing a favourite design, we did a small amount of tweaking before I was able to supply Chris with a suite of different layouts and colour arrangements to fit his needs.

The Bay Trust Recruitment Postcard

The Bay Trust are a Kent-based charity group looking to improve lives through outdoor learning and connections with the natural world. They rely on volunteers to help with many of the functions and education programs they run. To help with recruitment of volunteers The Bay Trust asked me to design a postcard that they would be able to distribute.

Hythe House Support Logo Re-draw, Leaflet Design

A referral from an existing client, Hythe House are a small local fostering agency. The project involved creating a roll-fold leaflet for them, which they intended to use for door-to-door advertising. I also re-drew their logo in a vector format so that it could be scaled for printing.

A lovely project to work on, with a very friendly team at Hythe House.

“We have recently used Design by Ollie to produce a leaflet for doorstep distribution, we were very impressed with Ollie’s designs and the fast turnaround. We will not hesitate to use Ollie for future design and printing work.”

— David Duffy

Dad’s Unlimited Event Posters

Charity Dad’s Unlimited were put in touch with me, as they needed design help with a poster for an upcoming fund raising event.

The event started out as a day of open-air film showings, but went through a number of iterations before settling on its final form of a single film, with supporting attractions and entertainment. The poster included simple layout of important information, and the use of some supporting imagery.

“Ollie has been brilliant! He really listened to what it was we wanted and he came up with a great poster for our event. Any tweaks we made were instantly dealt with and he had really been a pleasure to work with. We would use him again without a doubt. Ollie is friendly, professional and amazingly efficient. Thank you so much!”

— Frances Hunt

I made some custom graphics using some stock vectors to keep time down for the client, editing to match their branding and inserting logos into the graphics.

QR codes were also required by Dad’s Unlimited, so I created several designs for them to choose from.

Clever Dilemma Supporting Materials & Additional Projects

I’ve been continuing to work closely with the lovely team down at Clever Dilemma, producing leaflets, stickers, signage, flyers and posters for them as required. They even asked me to make a Christmas version of their logo, which was great fun to do!

Arden Theatre Faversham Logo Design and Poster Templates

Several of the trustees at the Arden Theatre in Faversham contacted me to see if I could help them out with a refresh of the theatre’s image. The logo had been the same since the 1970s, and it was feeling a little dated.

In line with the logo refresh, the theatre wanted some templates for the team to work from when designing posters and leaflets for their upcoming shows.

A lovely project to be involved with, and I look forward to seeing the logos appearing around the building and across their social media and website in due course!

Ollie is a lovely guy to deal with - full of ideas and tremendously helpful. Happily recommend him :)

Birthday invitations!

A great opportunity for some fun here. With a theme of “Heroes and Villains” I was able to go wild with the comic book imagery and styling.

Using ObelixPro font, it was possible to create a comic feel with the text, and some stock imagery for the background really set the fun tone for the invites.

The “POW!”, “ZAP!” and “KAPOW!” block’s were dropped in to add some zing, with the title overlaid on top of a matching shape arrangement. The important stuff was all placed into a white frame, with some transparency, in order that it could be clearly seen and read by potential guests.

Printed copies were delivered within a few days.

The Corner Tap Logo Design

A lovely micropub in Preston Street, Faversham, they needed a logo to be used in their social media and online presence, as well as for signage for the front windows of the pub, beer mats, staff clothing and custom beer glasses. Trading since 2016, they've relied on a simple type-based name above their main window frontage, and borrowed some branding from the Whitstable Brewery, to whom they're closely affiliated. Shane, the pub manager, had seen my logos, and received a recommendation from another of my clients, and we got in contact to start the logo design project for the pub.

I believe Ollie can translate anyone’s vision. He certainly did it with ours. Quick, efficient, professional service.

Shane Horton

Some additional projects for Shane and the Corner Tap have included a flag design, event banners, beer mats, bar runners and even business cards.

Local Author Book Cover Design

Local author Jeremy Splint came to Design by Ollie for some help with the cover for his upcoming trilogy of Jake Castle books. I was delighted to help with the cover art, and we met to discuss what Jeremy was looking for. A ‘1930s railway poster’ feel, with blocky colours and bold outlines, was my base for design, alongside the knowledge that the book series was in the thriller/action genre. Jeremy also details some of the key elements from the book that he wanted to be portrayed on the cover art.

A daunting island with a beach, a white upside-down boat wrecked in rocks just offshore, and a lonely figure on the beach, laying dead near the mouth of a cave. The finished design only needed a couple of small edits before it was agreed and used on the first of Jeremy books!

Audio console manufacturer Website Design

I was approached by a local marketing firm, to assist with designing a website that they were bidding to build for their client. During the process I worked closely with the marketing firm, studying the scope document provided by the end client, along with the examples provided and design preferences they'd noted.

Working in Adobe Xd, I first produced a simple wire frame, laying-out the homepage arrangement, in sections and blocks. Once this content arrangement was agreed with the marketing firm, I went on to use the supplied assets and text content to build-out a full homepage mock-up. There were a number of stages of feedback and editing, until the designs were agreed. At that stage, the homepage design was submitted to the client as part of their proposal.

Clever Dilemma New Business Start-up

The team at Clever Dilemma found my website and reached-out to me to discuss their need for a new logo and brand identity, to use for their start-up business. Clever Dilemma is an Escape Room attraction that opened in Faversham, and the guys there were looking for a graphic designer to come onboard with them, creating the initial brand identity, and subsequently much of the material they need to populate their rooms, their marketing, stationery and signage.

We were blown away with the amount of work Ollie had put into our project.... we can not fault our experience of working with Ollie and we will be using him again and again."

Badge versions of each colour type were created for use on social media, avatars, and as more condensed versions for design items such as brochures, business cards and similar.

Over the following weeks and months, I continued working with the team at CD to produce business cards, posters, flyers and signage for their property.  A few examples are below;

Not Another Sales Guy YouTube Graphics & Podcast Assets

Not Another Sales Guy is a channel on YouTube, from a chap by the name of Chris Hatfield. Chris' message is is all about providing a fresh and simple approach to selling. He came to be asking for a brand image for the channel, which has subsequently been expanded to include his podcast, and another project "Not Another Sales Cliche".

Not Another Sales Guy, traditional sales messages and techniques are 'in the bin', which Chris' fresh approach to selling.

Pilgrims Hospices Event Materials

The team at Margate approached me to offer some assistance with the design of their #Paws4Pilgrims event marketing materials. The scope of the work involved developing an initial design concept, which could then be arranged to suit large vinyl roadside banners, posters, flyers and pop-up event stands.

I produced a couple of design options, and the marketing team at Pilgrims Hospice chose their preferred options which I then drafted into several different layouts and arrangements for their use.

Medway Homebirth Team Logo and Identity Creation

The newly formed Medway NHS Foundation Trust Homebirth Team asked me to produce a logo and a full suite of branded stationery.

They were hoping for a warm, nurturing and soft logo, with reference to "home".

"We found Oliver to be easily accessible, swift and reliable with replies, and professional and friendly. He came up with a good selection of initial ideas giving us a variety of choices."

Citizens Advice Bureau Event Banner

Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) required a tailored event graphic for them to use in emails, and on invitations to their annual "Tea at Three" event. The brief was for a bright, simple block with information on the event, and some sort of reflection of the venue represented in the imagery.

Oasis Consults Logo Design

Oasis are Kent based charity working to help people affected by all forms of domestic abuse.

Oasis approached Design by Ollie for assistance creating a new logo for a brand new team they had built 'Oasis Consults'. The Consults team was an admin outsourcing endevour, for charities. The scope involved making a new logo, to fit and match the existing logos already in use with their other sub-teams, whilst making it clear and apparent what the new team was, and did.

The final logo used iconography, to indicate administrative functions, whilst keeping the colour and styles of the original logos. A really fun project, and great to work with Iona and the team at Oasis as well.

"Ollie was inventive and worked really hard to create something that would fit in with our existing branding and represent different facets of the new project. It felt like nothing was too much trouble, he was professional and polite throughout. I would highly recommend him!"

IT Company Logo Re-draw

I was recently asked by a client to provide some high resolution versions of their businesses logo. The firm has been using its logos for many years, and any original files have long since lost, leaving them working with small JPGs and poor quality copies.

The task here involved tracing some new clean and fresh shapefiles, from their low res images. Having recreated a full set of logos in Adobe Illustrator, I exported a suite of logos, different sizes, and colour alternates. These were handed to the client along with the newly created logo master file in .ai format, for their ongoing use.

As an addition, I included a logo and colour guide sheet, for them to distribute to staff internally. I also built some logo variations in formats specifically suited for use with their social media.

"We couldn't be happier with what we received from Design by Ollie. Well priced, proactive in suggesting other aspects to think of and very engaging. The end products were exactly what we were looking for."

AT4 Productions Logo Design

Logo design for a start-up production company. I went through a number of variations of the logo for the client, before they were happy with a final version.

The end result uses a large pyramid 'A' structure, with an embedded 'T' and 'four'. The font is hand-drawn, with a curved structure and the colours were picked after consultation with the client.

"Great designs and amazing 1-2-1 service, underpinned by Ollie's attention to detail and the brief delivered."
